When you hear stories of UFO’s they aren’t usually from the Ozarks. St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbia? Those are regular places for Missouri UFO sightings and they have larger population bases to up the percentage of potential eyeballs on a UFO, and the increased level of air traffic in those areas. But, none of those places are Missouri’s UFO capital.

Piedmont, MO. in Wayne County is the UFO capital of Missouri based on a heavy UFO season there in 1973. Yes over 50 years ago. Between February and April that year there were more than 500 UFO incidents reported in Piedmont. About half of the people living there then saw something. That’s wild.

The sightings didn’t end then, they just don’t occur with the frequency that they did in 1973. Or, maybe everyone just got so used to them that in Piedmont, it’s just another thing? When the Piedmont stories started getting out in the early seventies, people were drawn to the small Ozark town in southern Missouri. Not just lookie-loo’s though, the FBI, CIA and the military all sent officials to investigate.
