It's my first St. Paddy's Day in the Quincy, and I want to make the most of the weekend long celebration. In years past living in Chicago my St. Patrick's Day celebration was mainly filled with waking up at 5 a.m. to get to a pub and start drinking green beer, before walking down to the Chicago river to watch it turn bright green. As a newcomer to the Quincy I've done my research and these are the can't miss events that I'll be attending this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

-The St. Patrick's Day Art Crawl : An event that is Friday, March 15th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mainly located in Quincy, featuring six different venues. It is a chance to see local art, meet local artists, and purchase local art work. They say many of the venues will also have live music and a reception.

-The St. Patrick's Day Parade: Going on Saturday, March 16th starting at 11 a.m. from 12th street to 5th street on Maine street right through the heart of Quincy. Obviously this is the must attend event, and I will be in the parade driving the KICK Dodge. Personally I have never been in a parade before so I am very excited and so is my dog Murphy.

-Jed's Brew House: From what I hear this is the place to be early on Sunday, March 17th. Something about 5:05 a.m.???

-Barney's Tavern: For anyone looking to spend the 17th getting your drink on Barney's sounds like they are going to be throwing one heck of a morning party. Pitchers of green beer for $6.00 and free biscuits and gravy.

From art walks, to parades, and places to get your drink on, it seems as though Quincy will be able to provide everyone something they are looking for this St. Patrick's Day weekend. Just be careful with that green beer... it sneaks up on you.
