Why Parents Are Googling Teen Acronyms

I like to think I’m one of the cool kids and can keep up with my teenagers when it comes to all their text lingo and acronyms. Sometimes, though, they stump me, and I have to ask, “What the heck does this mean?” My girls laugh at me all the time and call me old, but I know I’m not the only one.

The Top 10 Teen Text Acronyms in Missouri

A new study by Unscrambler listed the top ten acronyms Missourians are Google searching for. Let’s see if you can figure them out:

  • PMO – Put Me On
  • OTP – One True Pairing
  • NFS – New Friends
  • TMB – Text Me Back
  • ICL – I Can’t Lie
  • JS – Just Sayin’
  • ION – In Other Media
  • ATP – At This Point
  • WYO – What You On?
  • WTW – What’s the Word

I’m not sure when we got to a point in society where three-letter “words” are used to have entire conversations, but here we are. Are we really that busy that we can’t type out full sentences, or is it just a cool thing to do?
