A good summer song is like an ice cold glass of your preferred beverage. It can get you in the spirit, and cool you down on those hot summer days. You can wax nostalgic about summer days gone by. It just puts you in the right mood to enjoy a good summer day. And country sure knows how to make a perfect summer song. These are my favorites, alphabetically.

Barefoot Blue Jean Night

It's all in the "Whoa-oh-oh, Whoa-oh-oh!" It's a summer anthem perfected.

Groovy Little Summer Song

That blues inspired guitar lick, that's a kick back and relax, you just finished mowing the lawn kinda track.

Summertime

Kenny Chesney has studied Jimmy Buffett on making good old fashioned chill music, fusing the relaxing nature with the wistfully nostalgic lyrics.

Sunshine & Summertime

It would be a disservice to excludes Faith Hill's jaunty, upbeat track to get your dance on.

Take a Back Road

Every summer needs a road trip. Every road trip needs a soundtrack. Rodney Atkins has the perfect song for you to roll down the windows and let your hair fly.

Toes

Having spent many a day and night on the beaches of 60% of the Great Lakes, I'm familiar with the perfect feeling that is your toes in the water and your... the rest of you in the sand.

*BONUS* Summertime Blues

Originally written & recorded by Eddie Cochran in 1958, Summertime Blues has been passed through many voices, including The Who, Blue Cheer, The Flaming Lips, Brian Setzer (when he portrayed Cochran in the film La Bamba), but Alan Jackson did a great version of it back in '94.
