Tim McGraw Becomes a Comic Book Star
Tim McGraw has conquered both the music and movie worlds, and now the ‘Truck Yeah’ singer is set to invade comic book industry. Comic book publisher Bluewater has chosen McGraw as the subject of their newest graphic novel, ‘Fame.’
The forthcoming issue will chronicle McGraw’s rise from humble beginnings to being one of country music’s most successful recording artists. The singer has scored 23 No. 1 hits and has sold more than 40 million albums in the span of his nearly 20-year career.
“Tim has had a wider career and area of interest than people might think. I loved the chance to do something with a hint of the Western, to go with the musical genre, says the comic book writer,” David McIntee. “I think his fans will enjoy that tone to it,”
McGraw’s Big Machine Records labelmate and fellow country superstar Taylor Swift has already received the animation treatment as part of an initiative to reach a younger generation of comic book readers. “We are getting young people excited to read by releasing comic books featuring the role models that they look up to the most,” Bluewater President Darren G. Davis says of McGraw and Swift’s inclusion in the series.
McGraw’s issue of ‘Fame’ will be available in September via most digital platforms, including iTunes, Nook and Kindle. The comic book will always be available in special print editions.
