Three men, two from New Jersey and one from New York, are in the Marion County Jail on stolen identity trafficking charges.

According to Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn, his office got a call Thursday that the men were allegedly trying to buy cigarettes with compromised credit cards in West Quincy.

The three were found in a car in Palmyra. They tried to flee the scene on foot, but were soon apprehended. They were found with several cartons of cigarettes and a number of what were believed to be fake credit cards.

Taken into custody were 56-year-old Sheng Jin Wang of West New York, New Jersey, 33-year-old Ming Dong of Elizabeth, New Jersey and 25-year-old Teng Ma of Flushing, New York.

A search of the men’s car revealed 115 fake credit cards, equipment to make credit cards and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The FBI, along with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are assisting Marion County authorities in the investigation of the case.

The three men are scheduled to appear in court July 28th. Federal charges are expected to be filed.
