This Pittsfield Man Just Caught a Record Paddlefish in Missouri

We haven't even hit the prime of fishing season, but already a record fish has been pulled out of the water. A Pittsfield man landed a record-setting fish in Missouri and it's truly a whopper.

Congratulations to Jim Dain of Pittsfield, Illinois. According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, he is now holds the state record for a paddlefish. This big boy is 140 pounds and 10 ounces beating the former record from 7 years ago by an ounce.

According to their press release, Jim caught this massive fish at Lake of the Ozarks on March 18. They quote his excitement here:

The forecast was calling for storms, and then it changed to no rain, so we went out, but it just kept getting colder,” Dain recalled. “We weren’t having much luck, but decided to fish for another hour so we took another turn. And that’s when the drag on the reel started. It felt like a tree was on the line!

Jim said he filled 16 gallon bags with this fish and ended up with a fish taco feast as a result. Good eating.
