Most Terrifying Illinois Bridge Lives Up to Its Chilling Name
There is just something about crossing a bridge that terrifies me. Well, one bridge in Illinois not only is among the scariest to cross, but its name will give you chills.
Gephyrophobia the fear of crossing over a bridge is a real thing. In fact, I think I have a bit of this. I hate crossing bridges. I always have to grab the steering wheel tightly and I get so tense until I get to the other side of the bridge.
Witches Bridge
The Witches Bridge located in Bear Creek, Illinois is among some of the scariest bridges to cross in the nation. The Travel says there have been reports of Paranormal Activity and local urban legends are some of the reasons why this bridge is scariest.
Rumor has it that the bridge is called Witches Bridge because of a woman who was hung in the 1800s for supposedly being a witch.

It's also located right next to the Anderson Cemetery so it's got three strikes for me. Haunted, scary looking, and VERY OLD.
Count me out crossing this bridge. If I need to get to the other side I will drive out of the way to cross. Now, I don't intend on ever being in this area, but if I find myself coming up to the Witches Bridge I will just turn around the other way and say see ya!
