It's fun to think back to when you were growing up. I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Some things haven't changed very much since then. Others have changed dramatically. Here are ten things those of us that grew up in the Quincy area might remember from the 80s.

Going to a birthday party at Roller Country. To this day, if I ever hear "The Time of My Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, I think of Roller Country.

Waiting forever for you parents to finish picking up stuff from Furrow's. A fine place for grownups, but really, really dull for kids.

Deciding which Nintendo games you should beg your parents for at K's Merchandise (after they finally got out of Furrow's).

Reading all the comics on the spinner rack while your mom bought groceries at Hy-Vee on Harrison.

Bowling at Harrison Lanes.

Listening to Dennis Oliver on 99Q.

Getting very upset if you went to the mall, but weren't allowed to stop at K·B Toys or Barrels-N-Bins.

This one's sort of silly, but I actually remember where I was (recess, second grade, playing on the slide) when I first heard the words "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Going to the carnival and trying really hard to win a plastic Freddy Krueger glove, or one of those glass tiles with pictures of bands on them (we have no idea what they're called).

Gummi Bears, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Camp Candy, and lots and lots of other cartoons every Saturday morning. Did you know that Saturday morning cartoons aren't even a thing, anymore?
