When you Google the question, "What is the Tallest Building in Missouri?" you will find that many sites claim the Arch in St. Louis is, but should it be considered the tallest building in Missouri?

This is maybe a silly argument, and really doesn't matter, but I have always been fascinated by tall buildings (probably because I grew up in Chicago when the Sears, now Willis, was the tallest building in the world) so I was doing a quick Google to try and find out what the tallest building in Missouri is and the answer kinda broke my brain.

According to Wikipedia.org, their list of the Tallest buildings in Missouri shows you multiple different categories but the main one lists the Arch as the tallest ACCESSIBLE building in Missouri, at 630ft tall just ahead of One Kansas City Place at 624ft tall. BUT when you scroll down you'll see that Wikipedia has another list that has One Kansas City Place as the current tallest HABITABLE building in Missouri...Hmmm...You can see the lists for yourself just click here!

I guess it comes down to your definition of what is and isn't a building right? Yes, the Arch is a building, or is it more of just a structure? Obviously, One Kansas City Place is what we would all consider a typical modern skyscraper building there are no questions about that, so it wouldn't bother me if people considered that the tallest building in Missouri even though the Arch is 6ft taller. According to dictionary.com, a building is...

"a relatively permanent enclosed construction over a plot of land, having a roof and usually windows and often more than one level, used for any of a wide variety of activities, as living, entertaining, or manufacturing."

So by that definition, I would say (in my opinion) I think it is right to consider the Arch as the tallest building in Missouri, what do you think?

Oh and just for fun, the state of Missouri has in total of 7 skyscrapers (that is a building that is over 500ft tall) that's in the entire state, the city of Chicago has 133, the 10th most skyscrapers in the world. And the Arch would be tied for the 46th tallest building in Chicago.
