Quincy Memorial Bridge to Close Again For Repairs March 14
The Illinois Department of Transportation is getting ready to finish what they started.
IDOT announced Tuesday they will again close the Quincy Memorial Bridge to continue repairs, beginning Monday, March 14.
This time, the work will consist of improving the road surface, painting, structural steel repairs and other miscellaneous work.
While the bridge that takes U.S. 24 eastbound across the Mississippi River is closed, the normally westbound Bayview Bridge will be converted to two-way traffic, with a maximum 14 foot lane width.
The latest round of repairs is expected to last through mid-summer.
IDOT says motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips on the Bayview Bridge. When feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions, obey the posted speed limit, put away your mobile device and be alert for workers and equipment.
