The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday the closing of the eastbound U.S. 24 bridge, that was to have taken place Thursday, has been postponed until the week of April 12th.

IDOT did not give a reason for the postponement.

When the closing takes place, work to be done will include resurfacing the bridge deck, joint replacements and repairs, painting, structural steel repairs, and lighting replacement and repairs.

The $7.25 million dollar project is scheduled to close Memorial Bridge for seven months.
