Much like Record Store Day, Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 5th is a great way to celebrate the local shops that cater to your specific interests, and in this case it's comic books. All kinds of comic books. Not just Marvel and DC superheroes. Quincy's local comic shop, Underdark Comics & Games at 508 South 9th Street, is having some great sales and participating in the Free Comic Book Give Away.

According to the event page, all comics are half off, trade paperbacks are buy one get one free, and everything else in the store is 30% off. NPR put together a solid run-down of all the Free Comic Book Day exclusives, that range from Adventure Time and Little Mermaid for the kids, James Bond and Power Rangers for teens, to a 25th Anniversary Special release of Strangers in Paradise for adult readers.

Me? I'm just going to take advantage of the sales. There are a lot of comics and graphic novels that have been on my "Must-Read" list, so I'll see if they're on sale and pick up some nice reading material.

See you at the comic book store.
