Quincy City Council Approves HERO Program
The city of Quincy is setting up a program to help businesses affected by the pandemic and help residents with their utility bills.
The Quincy City Council Monday night voted unanimously to set up what will be known as the Helping Establishments Re-Open, or HERO program.
The way the program works – through August 31st, Quincy residents who spend up to $150 at retailers and businesses affected by COVID-19 will get a $50 credit on a future water bill.
This one-time credit is limited to 4,000 Quincy households.
The city is setting aside $100,000 to pay for the HERO program, which comes from funds in the city’s COVID-19 relief program.
Residents who wish to take part in the program need to submit receipts and a credit request form to City Treasurer Linda Moore by September 30th.
