Quincy City Council Approves 2021 Budget

The Quincy City Council passed its fiscal year 2021 budget Monday night.

The budget, which passed on an 11 to 3 vote, includes cuts of some $1.3-million dollars, due to anticipated revenue shortfalls caused by COVID-19.

Those who voted against the budget expressed concerns that the budget hadn’t been cut enough.

City officials had previously estimated the state’s economic shutdown could cost the city as much as $2.3 million dollars, which is six percent of the city’s total revenue.

Another cost cutting measure the council took Monday night was to freeze pay increases for all city employees.
