Not only is this sandwich shop one of the best in Missouri, but it also houses the oldest soda fountain in operation in St. Louis.

Crown Candy Kitchen, founded in 1913, is home of the first soda fountain in St. Louis and continues to serve some of the city's best sandwiches to this day. Menu highlights include the Reuben, turkey and bacon melt, and the BLT.
The restaurant was also featured on the Food Network show Recovery Restaurant which helps restaurants get back on their feet with renovations and help from some celebrities. Of course, Nelly was that celebrity. The shop was hit hard by the pandemic and the show hopes the current business owners get back on their feet and have been doing great ever since.
This shop really is a St. Louis tradition and one that we will have to check out the next time we visit STL. The menu has a little bit of everything from sandwiches to ice cream, sundaes, and more. It looks all fairly priced too.
