Mizzou Football Faces Increased Challenge at Texas A&M
#9 Mizzou’s first road game is in College Station, TX. Saturday to play the #25 Aggies at Kyle Field.
The Tigers have found that vibe from last season that makes games exciting while allowing for Mizzou to pull out close wins. They won four games last season by seven points or less and already have two of those close wins this season in just four weeks.
The Aggies are coming off a home win against Arkansas and are already 2-0 in SEC play also beating Florida in Gainsville.

The Aggies want to run the ball and play physical. That’s historically their brand. QB Marcel Reed is an effective passer, but it all stems from his ability to tuck the ball and run. A&M also have solid backs in LeVeon Moss who’s averaging over six yards per carry and Amari Daniels averages 4.4 yards per carry.
The Tigers offensive backfield is similar in that Nate Noel also averages over six yards per carry and Marcus Carroll averages 4.7 yards per carry. Mizzou QB Brady Cook can also run the ball effectively.
The big difference is at wide receiver. Mizzou is much more dynamic with Luther Burden III, Theo Wease, Mookie Cooper and Marquis Johnson. Traditionally Mizzou has employed the TE’s in the passing game. They have not really highlighted that aspect of a seemingly capable TE crew yet, and Noel and Carroll can also catch the ball out of the backfield.
The myriad offensive options are what make Mizzou a favorite Saturday.
A&M’s defense will want to bully Mizzou’s line. Easier said than done. Defensive lineman Nic Scourton, linebackers Will Lee III and Scooby Williams along with defensive back Taurean York will be looking to put big hits on Mizzou skill players early to set a tone.
This is the first game this season away from Faurot Field for the Tigers and Kyle Field is not an easy place to play as it holds over 102,000 fans at capacity. The home of the “12th Man” will be full and loud Saturday for this top 25 showdown.
