How Much? Missouri’s Average Daycare Cost Is Going Up
I’ll never forget the day we no longer had to pay for daycare. It felt like paying off a car loan or finally clearing a major credit card, it was such a relief to be free of that monthly bill.
Daycare Cost in Missouri
A new map from Visual Capitalist shows daycare costs in every state, and Missouri is at the higher end of the scale.

In full disclosure, one of the reasons my husband and I didn’t have more kids was simply that we couldn’t afford the cost of daycare, and that was over 10 years ago. Today, the average cost for parents in Missouri is around $941 per month.

Some states aren’t too bad, but then you look at places like Washington, D.C., which has the highest rate at $1,912. Even Illinois is over $1,000. The cost of raising a child is already expensive, but when you add an additional $941 a month, it can get overwhelming.
Now, I loved our daycare. The teachers and staff were amazing to all the children who attended, and I have nothing but good things to say about it.
Why Are Costs Rising?
It's simple, food costs keep rising, and so do the costs of paying daycare staff, electricity, and heating. All of it adds up when it comes to daycare expenses. I'm so grateful we found a daycare we loved, one that treated both our girls with so much care.
My hope for all you expecting parents out there is that you find the same, without having to spend a fortune.
