Cole Camp, Missouri is “on the way” to places. Or, more precisely it’s just off the path from being “on the way” to places in Missouri. But Cole Camp’s teen country singer Trevon Dawson may be “on the way” himself.

Dawson dazzled longtime “Voice” personality Adam Levine on the new seasons blind auditions singing Bailey Zimmerman’s “Religiously”. The Maroon 5 singer spun around and claimed Dawson, placing him under his tutelage for the season, but the panel were all impressed with his vocal performance, especially when they discovered he was only seventeen years old.

The last time a teen from the Show-me state showed out on “The Voice” was in 2022 when Foley, Missouri’s Ruby Leigh made a splash. A splash that led her to the Grand Ole Opry stage in August of 2024.

Cole Camp is a little town of just over 1000 people in Benton County, Missouri, just off highway 65 on Mo.52 between Sedalia and Truman Lake. Known for its German heritage (how German? – The welcome sign just outside of town said that life was “Wunderbar” there…that’s pretty German), seasonal festivals and high school sports teams. Teen vocalists? Trevon Dawson is forging his own path for Cole Camp singers grabbing the last spot for season 27 of “The Voice”.

It’ll be fun watching him compete and learn from the veteran performers he’ll be able to spend time around. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t turn up singing at the Missouri State Fair in the next couple years.  Ready or not Missouri, Cole Camp is getting a prime time spotlight.
