We love to rave about BBQ. Whether it’s cooking it or eating it, we talk about BBQ all the time. What I didn’t know was that something like a BBQ museum even existed, until it was recognized as one of the best new museums of 2025.

Missouri BBQ Museum Named One of the Best New Museums of 2025

USA Today recently released its list of the best new museums for 2025, and one Missouri museum made the cut.

What You’ll Learn Inside the Museum of BBQ

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about spices, sauces, smoking techniques, and everything else that goes into great BBQ, the Museum of BBQ in Kansas City is the place to go. You don’t just learn about BBQ in Missouri, you explore BBQ history from the Carolinas, Memphis, Texas, and Kansas City. And surprisingly, St. Louis didn’t make the list.

Exploring Regional BBQ Styles Across America

BBQ is one of those things I’d love to be better at, and this museum feels like a great starting point for anyone who wants to learn more about the process and how to cook better brisket or ribs. You’ll learn about different cuts of meat, the origins of BBQ, and, of course, no museum experience is complete without a gift shop. You can even pick up some of the best sauces and rubs you can imagine.

Located in Crown Center in Kansas City, the museum isn’t huge, but it’s large enough to give you an immersive experience and walk you through all elements of BBQ. Crown Center itself is a fun destination, with restaurants, shops, and the train-themed restaurant Fritz’s, an experience all on its own.
