Marion County Sets Sales Tax Revenue Record
In the midst of this year of the pandemic, there was good news from the Marion County Commissioners Monday.
At their regular meeting, commissioners learned that 2020 has been a record setting year for sales tax revenue for Marion County.
County Clerk Valerie Dornberger announced sales tax receipts for the year have topped $2.36 million dollars, beating last year’s previous record high by about $170 thousand dollars.
Dornberger attributed the increase to more people shopping local and more people coming from Illinois to shop and eat out, due to COVID-19.
