Let’s Get to Work! Illinois Auto Plant to Re-Open
The UAW is pleased that Stellantis, who owns Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Trucks amongst others has announced that they will be reopening the Belvidere, Illinois plant to produce an as yet to be introduced mid-sized pickup truck.

The proposed timeline has the everything up and running in 2027, and will provide 1500 auto workers jobs in producing the forthcoming truck.
The relationship between Stellantis and the UAW has been tenuous in recent years over broken promises on where vehicles would be made along with potential EV battery plants and parts distribution centers.
With the recent trend being layoffs and closures across many industries in the Midwest, it is a breath of fresh air to know that over a thousand head of household jobs will be returning to Illinois. Even if it won’t happen until 2027.
