The question comes up every year. What to do with all the leftovers after Thanksgiving? Every house has their own answer. From turkey soup, to turkey casserole, to days of turkey sandwiches. All of these work, and you may be more comfortable with them. But if you’ll entertain the idea, how about a “Leftover Turkey Monte Cristo”.

This could be the leftover turkey creation you've been missing

The leftover version employs only turkey (no ham) with Muenster cheese (as a first choice), but if you don’t have that, Swiss still works here. Cranberry sauce plays an important role in place of the sweet plum jam. There are some who will find room in this sandwich to wedge in leftover stuffing or slather on Dijon mustard too. Others will sprinkle confectioners sugar over the top, and there may be an occasion to try syrup on top too. No foul to use these if you have them, but they aren’t necessary.

Some will prepare the bread as if they are making French toast with the egg wash. Others will utilize the egg wash after constructing the sandwich by dipping the whole thing before placing it in a pre-heated skillet. Either way, this is a fun way to consume leftover turkey and sides.
