A great night of comedy is lined up for this Friday, April 26, at The State Room

No matter the size of the stage, Katrina Brown knows the only thing that matters while performing her stand-up comedy routines across the country is the here and now.

“You are only as important and funny as the show you’re currently doing,” said Brown, headliner for the LMAO Comedy Series, Presented by Y101, KICK-FM and Coors Light, this Friday night at The State Room in Quincy. “I never list a long pedigree before I’m called on to a stage. It doesn’t matter to the people in the seats waiting on you to make them laugh there, now, in the moment.”

Brown, from Canton, Ohio, tours heavily through Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, North Dakota and Wisconsin among other places. Her act, which is “adult” enough to warrant a PG-13 rating but clean enough to not horrify people, includes “relatable” material from a wife and a mother of two boys.

“I enjoy the art and process of a stand-up performance … the IMMEDIATE connection with the audience in front of me at the time.”

Friday’s show starts at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7. Quincy favorite Kris Wernowsky will open the night and also do hosting duties, St. Louis comedian Kenny Kinds will be the feature act and Brown headlines the night of laughs.

Tickets for the 21-and-over show are still available at Second String Music, 5th & Maine, Quincy; Bailey’s Coffee House and Fudge Shop, 307 N. 36th in Quincy (near El Rancherito) and at Java Jive, 211 N. Main, in Hannibal. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission and $20 for VIP. New for this edition of the comedy series is the “Sit Tight VIP Lounge”. Anyone who purchases VIP tickets will be seated in the comfort of home in furniture provided by Sit Tight. In addition, two general admission ticket holders will be selected to move to the “Sit Tight Best Seats in the House”, which are lounge chairs front and center.
