Missouri Wildfire Burning Now – State Suddenly Under Burning Risk
I don't know what your plans are today and it's none of my business. However, I hope that starting a fire outside isn't one of them as meteorologists are warning of a severe wildfire risk today due to a perfect storm of conditions that are now present.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri today issued this alert about how a combination of 3 conditions has now put the state under a definite risk of wildfires.
I'm no rocket scientist, but even I know that low humidity and dry timber and leaves make for a volatile combination where any and all fires can get out of control in a hurry. Add to that the strong winds and you understand why they're advising against burning outside Sunday.
The advisory seems to be focused on the afternoon to early evening hours between 1pm and 7pm. If you do need to burn, they warn that you need to be even more certain that the fire is completely extinguished once you're done.
The Fire Weather Avalanche site shows there is one wildfire currently burning in Missouri. It's the Cane Hollow Fire near Table Rock Lake in the southwestern part of the state currently burning around 300 acres.
