The once vibrant Chesterfield Mall has started to come down in Chesterfield Missouri.

Demolition on the vacant mall started earlier this week with the Chesterfild Mall sign being torn down first. Many have had mixed emotions about the mall being demolished, but the future does look bright for the space in which the mall occupies.

Many visitors we able to walk through the empty halls of the mall before its demo and it's eerie to think that these halls were once filled with shoppers and not will be anymore.

What's Next?

A $2 Billion expansion project will take the former mall's place. Once the mall is completely demoed (which will take 6 months to take the entire mall down) crew will begin to build Downtown Chesterfield. which will contain apartments, retail shops, and restaurants according to KSDK News.

So many malls that close for good are left abandoned, it's nice to see that something will take its place and maybe even bring more business to the Chesterfield area. It has not been announced what retail shops and restaurants will be coming, that announcement will hopefully come next year once the building of Downtown Chesterfield starts.

So we say goodbye to an era of the Chesterfield Mall, but hello to what is next, and it sounds amazing.
