3 Missouri Places Where You Flying a Drone Will Mean Big Trouble
Don't even think about it, not even on a dare. There are 3 places in Missouri where you flying a drone will get you in big trouble and maybe even federal prison.
I got curious about this topic when I saw a disturbing story today by the Wall Street Journal about how mystery drones were spotted near a US military base for 17 days and no one knows who or why. Troubling to say the least.
That made me wonder about what would happen if someone were to fly drones near classified parts of Missouri and I confirmed it would be big trouble. Here are 3 places that you are forbidden from flying a drone near or over.
Whiteman Air Force Base
The 509th Bomb Wing Public Affairs of Whiteman Air Force Base warns "Whiteman’s airspace is deemed a “no-drone zone” by the Federal Aviation Agency". It's a class D airspace which means you violate it and the feds will be on your doorstep, take your drone and probably you to prison.
Fort Leonard Wood
Flying a drone over or near Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri would not be wise. The base issued a memo not that long ago advising any soldier that sees a drone to report it immediately.
The Gateway Arch in St. Louis
It might be tempting to want an aerial video of one of America's most iconic monuments, but the National Park Service explicitly forbids it. You can request permission for a special project, but unless you get approval (in writing), this could result in federal charges.
