The United States Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Missouri has just shared details of how a St. Louis, Missouri man tried to use loopholes in the Kohl's Cash program to rob the chain of $200,000. They say Marshall Lampkin, 35, of St. Louis found a way to use Kohl's Cash multiple times. He made purchases of more than $1,000 in store and then immediately used the same Kohl's Cash to purchase more items online before the in-store purchase was registered. Afterward, he would return the items to the store for a cash refund. The press release shared by prosecutors said that he purchased "flooring, furniture, small appliances and other items, shipped to storage units in St. Louis and a relative’s house in Illinois".

The U.S. Secret Service and the St. Louis County Police Department became aware of the fraud scheme and investigated the case. They learned that he pulled off this scheme 100 times over the span of store visits in 2021 and 2022. He was found guilty of 5 counts of mail fraud by a jury in just 7 minutes. The press release goes on to say that Marshall Lampkin will be sentenced in December for his crimes.
