Missouri Has More Counties than Almost Every Other State
It's one of those statistics that you don't think about a lot, but if you count how many counties each state has, only a handful have more than Missouri.

How many counties does Missouri have anyway?
Missouri has a grand total of 115 counties in the state trailing only Texas, Virginia, Kentucky and Georgia.
What's the big deal about the number of counties in a state? Probably more than you'd think. The National Association of Counties mentions that counties provide representatives that understand how we live in our part of America instead of a broad area. They also shared the fact that there are over 3,000 counties in America and the fact that Missouri has 115 of them is a good thing for the state.
