What's the punishment for killing a bald eagle?

The US Fish and Wildlife Service says killing a bald eagle can cost the villain one year in federal prison and fines ranging from $5,000 to $100,000, which can increase to $250,000 or more for felony convictions under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It's a terrible thing to do to any animal, but even worse when it's our national symbol.
