There's new data that focuses on driving hazards in Missouri and the weather responsible for the most accidents likely isn't what you would guess. No, snow and rain are not the culprit behind weather-related fender benders in Missouri.

I just found this fascinating new study shared by the DHH Law Firm that looks at many different factors involved in vehicular accidents in Missouri. While it looks at many different driving statistics, I'd like to hyper-focus on just one that I found surprising. What kind of weather do you think is most commonly involved in Missouri driving mishaps? If you had given me a half-dozen guesses, I probably wouldn't have gotten it right. Their graphic reveals the real weather danger that affects Missouri drivers more than any other.

Would you have thought that a severe crosswind would be the number one cause of vehicular accidents in Missouri that are weather-related? I am not surprised that freezing temperatures are a top cause of crashes (thanks again, black ice), but would never have guessed that cloudy and even clear skies cause more accidents than rain or snow.

I have to wonder if many drivers in Missouri let their guard down and allow themselves to be more distracted when the weather is decent? If nothing else, this new study is a reminder that you always need eyes in the back of your head when driving in Missouri no matter what the weather conditions happen to be.
