Yes, a Missouri Man Just Set a World Record in a Giant Pumpkin
This will be a story he can pass down through his family for generations. It is true that a man just floated the Missouri River and in the process also happened to set a world record that's not likely to be broken.
I saw this neat story shared by KMBC 9 out of Kansas City which tells the tale of Steve Kueny from Lebanon, Missouri. He along with the group Paddle KC floated the Missouri River. The Guinness Book of World Records lists this as "longest ride by pumpkin boat (paddling)". Yes, this really is a pumpkin boat.
The trip down the Missouri River by Steve and the Paddle KC group traversed 38 miles and took 12 hours to complete.
The previous record was held by a Nebraska guy who did a giant pumpkin float last year. There must be something in the water - literally.
The Paddle KC Facebook page says that Steve Kueny's giant pumpkin weighed nearly 1,300 pounds. To state the obvious, this is not something to attempt unless you're a real water professional. That's likely why so few have even attempted to break this very unique Guinness Book of World's Record feat. Now, it's back in the hands of a Missouri man and his giant pumpkin. Maybe the most real life Charlie Brown story ever.
