Best Places to See the Stars (and Planets) in Missouri
It’s fun to get away from the skyglow of populated areas and get out into the country to see the stars, the milky way and the cosmos. If you don’t have a place to get to in the country there are a few ways to still see the stars in Missouri. Observatories.
There are several astronomical observatories to visit in the Show-me state. Some you can visit most anytime others are only available at certain specific times or seasons.

The Crow Observatory: Washington University – St. Louis invites you stop by anytime during operation hours (as long as its not cloudy).
The Laws Observatory: University of Missouri – Columbia welcomes visitors on Wednesday nights 8-10p (except for holidays and when it’s cloudy)
Broemmelsiek Park: Defiance, Missouri – In St. Charles county Broemmelsiek’s Observatory is technically in Wentzville as it is on the north side of Schwede Road. Being a public park you can visit while the park is open.
Pattonville Observatory: Pattonville Heights Middle School - Maryland Heights, Missouri. Viewing sessions occur approximately two Fridays per month in the early evening after sunset (per cloud cover).
Morrison Observatory: Central Methodist University – Fayette, Missouri – Viewing for the public occurs on specific time windows and nights during the year.
Baker Observatory: Missouri State University – Fair Grove, Missouri – Hosting private group tours you’ll get a tour of the facilities and get to view through their telescope.
Get a different perspective of the universe by getting a clearer view of the cosmos at any (or all) of these observatories in Missouri.
