Moment of Impact: Illinois Commuter Train Clobbers Car

It's a miracle no one was seriously injured. There's dramatic video that captured the moment when a commuter train in Illinois absolutely clobbered a car that had ventured too far onto its tracks.

The Village of Hinsdale Police Department shared this crazy video from earlier this week that showed the moment a commuter train collided with a car that was on its tracks. This happened Monday, December 8 at 11:43am.

This is the moment of collision. When you consider the amount of energy this collision involved, it's a miracle that the two occupants of the car were taken to the Hinsdale Hospital with only minor injuries and no one on the train was reported injured either.

I will confess that I likely don't take train crossings as seriously as I should either. However, I have to wonder how the car's driver didn't realize the nose of the vehicle was sticking out over the tracks? It's a fair question to ask. Still, at the end of the day all that matters is no one was hurt seriously. When I first watched the video, I feared the worst. A happy ending isn't normally what you get when trains and cars meet. More proof that miracles still can and do happen.
