This has been a challenging year for some iconic brands in the restaurant business. There are a new round of closures, this time from Five Guys who have suddenly shut the doors at a number of their places which now includes Illinois.

For many in Illinois, this was a regular stop for a burger, but that's no longer possible as the doors are reportedly closed.

According to a report just shared by Cheapism, Five Guys is closing restaurants in 7 different states. They say that includes the Five Guys located at 2856 S Route 59 in Naperville, Illinois. To verify this Illinois restaurant had really closed, I confirmed it by their reviewers on Yelp. There's no confirmation on what day it closed its doors, but the most recent Yelp reviews complained about the prices. Inflation hurts. Fast Company also confirmed the Five Guys Illinois location closure through their store locator tool.

Why are Five Guys closing some locations?

People Magazine's online site said that Five Guys are closing underperforming locations, but they're also opening new locations, too and plan more expansion. It's not uncommon for a less-popular location close in one part of Illinois and then have the brand open a new place in a better location later. Let's hope that's the case for this Naperville Five Guys and that all of their employees impacted by this closure land on their feet in a better situation.
