I saw CNN share the story of a young 7-year-old girl named Aspen Brown. She's from Paragould, Arkansas which is right across the border from Missouri. The news was shared on a press release by Arkansas State Parks that declared she was visiting Crater of Diamonds State Park in southern Arkansas when she found a 2.95 carat golden brown diamond.

Crater of Diamonds State Park is located in Murfreesboro, Arkansas and yes, you can definitely dig for diamonds there. This is the part of Arkansas that was originally a very volcanic region. It's actually a very doable road trip as admission cost is only $13 for adults and $6 for kids. Doing the math on what a nearly 3 carat diamond is worth, Aspen Brown's family more than made their money back off that admission price. Wow.
