The Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy has its first confirmed case of COVID-19.

Officials with the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs informed residents, their families and staff Monday that a resident at the vets’ home has tested positive for the coronavirus.

State officials say the home is responding in accordance with the latest medical guidance and coordinating with state and local health officials regarding possible quarantines.

Meanwhile, the Adams County Health Department reported five new COVID cases in the county Tuesday, bringing the total to 133. 89 of the cases are active. Five are hospitalized.
