Illinois Treasurer Begins Auction of Unclaimed and Abandoned
Often states will send word out to the public that there are unclaimed funds or other things in your name and provide a way to check and re-check if you (or another family member) have unclaimed money that the state is looking to connect you with.

Then, other times the state will after a period of time, auction off unclaimed items. Things that were kept in bank deposit boxes and have gone unclaimed. In Illinois this is going on now.
Private groups sometimes can’t connect these items with their owners, and the state treasury ends up with the items, and subsequently doesn’t have the space to keep them. So the items get auctioned off.
This may be an opportunity to find something unique and get it at a good price. The Illinois Unclaimed Property Auction will continue until April 6.
Being auctioned off over the next several days are baseball memorabilia (DiMaggio/Yankees), 19th century US gold coin, a gold bracelet, wedding bands, international currency and more.
If you want to see the items and bid, you’ll have to create an online account on HiBid.
