Whether you like it or not, Christmas shopping starts earlier and earlier every year. One of the best shopping experiences is a Christkindle Market and Illinois is home to the largest in the nation.

What is a Christkindle Market?

A Christkindle market is a German and European tradition with international flair and local charm. It's known to be one of the first outdoor markets of its kind with vendors selling food, and crafts, and spreading holiday cheer to all. The best part of the market...it's entirely free to attend. There are ticketed events that you need to purchase a ticket for, but to attend the market it's free admission.

This market in Chicago is opening up for the season on November 22 in Daley Plaza. It had to be moved from Wrigleyville this year due to The Winter Classic Hockey Game this winter.

It's recommended to go on weekdays as you can imagine weekends are a bit crazy and highly attended. There are ticketed events that will be available to visitors during the duration of the market.

I have been to our local Christkindle Market (which is this weekend at the Dick Brothers Brewing location) and love it. But to experience that largest in the nation would be amazing.
