Illinois Hospital Safety Grades Are Out – How Did Blessing Score?
The Independent non-profit The Leapfrog Group has released their grades for Illinois hospitals over the fall of 2024.
Leapfrog began releasing safety grades in 2022, focusing on infections, hygiene, and medication safety. They point out since their biannual scorecards have come out that Staph infections and UTI’s have dropped across the country. Hand hygiene scores for hospital staff and medication errors have all improved nationwide.
Blessing Hospital in Quincy scored an overall A grade for fall 2024. You can find a full breakdown of the Blessing scores here covering: infections, surgery, safety issues, prevention and hospital staff. This past spring Blessing earned a B.
Meanwhile Hannibal Regional scored a Fall 2024 Safety score of D from The Leapfrog Group. Hannibal Regional also had a D in the spring safety report card.
The Leapfrog Group will release updated safety grades in spring of 2025.
