Illinois Has a Camping Cheat Code Location
My wife’s idea of camping is a hotel with subpar room service. She likes to be outside. She just doesn’t want to sleep there. Too many variables for trouble. Hungry or curious wild animals, bugs or snakes just to name a few.

Seeing a sea of stars or even the aurora borealis if the conditions are right is a wonderful thing. But, how do you experience those things and not be out at night away from city lights?
Behold The GeoDome!
You may call it “Glamping”, but whatever label you apply what it provides is a chance to see celestial bodies and events you can’t enjoy near city lights, or unless you are outdoors late at night.
Check your celestial calendar and make it special.
Imagine taking in the Taurid meteor shower in the fall under the stars and yet still inside. This is the draw of the GeoDome in Sheridan, Illinois not far from the Fox river, and just a short drive from Starved Rock State Park on the site of an old Girl Scout camp.
The GeoDome includes a queen sized bed, a lounging couch, a clear ceiling, and the GeoDome sits on an elevated patio. It doesn’t sit on the ground. The bathroom facilities are a short walk away (you are at a camping site remember). The GeoDome is an Airbnb, so you can book it.
