Pokemon Fossil Museum Debuts in Illinois in May

2026 marks the 30^th anniversary of Pokemon's debut. To celebrate, there are events all across the United States that are well underway. A special exhibition that is one of a kind is coming to Illinois only this year beginning in May.

Illinois is ready to experience Pokemon at the next level

The Pokemon Fossil Museum will debut at the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois, on May 22. Worlds will collide and lines will be blurred when fossil Pokemon are on display museum-style right next to traditional museum fossils of dinosaurs and more.

Is it a Pokemon fossil, or dinosaur fossil?

The Pokemon Fossil Museum was originally set up in Tokyo, Japan a few years ago, and was a big hit. Excavator Pikachu will be on-site with Field Museum scientists, and Pokemon Professors.

Immersive events are in demand as fans want to be able to feel surrounded by the world and characters they love. The Pokemon Fossil Museum exhibit achieves that, but also brings the world of Pokemon into the real world in a tangible way. The Pokemon displays will be mixed in and right next to regular museum displays you could find anytime at the Field Museum in Chicago.

Pokemon aficionados and fossil type fans will be in a magical space starting May 22. Whether your favorite Pokemon is Omanyte, or Tirtouga, this is a must-attend event.
