There are about 3,400 student in the Hannibal School District, and it would be safe to say that every one of them has lined the halls of their respective elementary, middle and high schools Thursday to let the Pirates know they are behind them 100 percent.

On the Hannibal Pirates Athletics and Activities Facebook page are a series of videos, each showing students, most wearing their best red and black, rooting on the Pirates as the team members spend the day walking the halls, obviously feeding off the energy generated by students, faculty and staff.

The parade began at the Middle School.

Continued to Oakwood Elementary School

Mark Twain Elementary

Even the Early Childhood Center got in on the act.

You get the idea.

And what a great idea it was to have these young men that so many of the elementary students look up to and want to be like someday walking the halls of the respective schools, giving the future Pirates an up close look at their heroes.

In case you've been out of town for the last week, the Hannibal Pirate football team will be playing in the Class 4 Show-Me Bowl for the state championship Friday at 11 a.m. at Farout Field in Columbia.

The team will leave the high school for Columbia at 6 a.m. Friday and fans are encouraged to line McMasters Avenue southbound to see the Pirates off. I also saw a post from Wright's Furniture, offering their parking lot on U.S. south to fans.

GO PIRATES!!!
