Hannibal Comes Alive for Jaycee Parade and Living Windows

Two of the Hannibal Victorian Festival of Christmas' most anticipated events are coming up the next two weekends.

Saturday, December 4 is the Hannibal Jaycees annual Christmas Parade. It steps off at 6 p.m. from the Sav-a-Lot parking lot, heads down Broadway and turns north on Main.

Of course, when the Jaycees do anything, it's for a good cause, and this is no exception. If you would like to be in the parade, the price of admission is an unwrapped toy that will go to the annual Toys for Tots program.

Then, on Saturday, December 11, the long-standing Hannibal downtown tradition, Living Windows, will hold forth from 5 until 8 p.m.

A lot of the fun for the businesses taking part in Living Windows is the fact that, in most cases, the content of their window displays are, "closely guarded secrets."

When the unveiling happens at 5, the downtown shop windows literally come alive, with all manner of Christmas themed displays, from Santa to the Grinch and everything - and I mean everything - in between.

Along with these marquee events, the Victorian Festival of Christmas continues with the Scottish Rite Festival of Trees at the Depot Dec. 2-5, the Babes in Toyland Parade at 4 p.m. Dec. 11, the Holiday Home and Loft Tours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 17 and 18, along with evening tours of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Santa in his house.
