This Illinois Town Feels Frozen in Time and Tourists Love It
Some towns stay frozen in time, and it works in their favor when it comes to tourism and business. One of those towns is getting noticed again.
Illinois Town Feels Frozen in Time and Tourists Love It
Galena, Illinois, is known for its many historic buildings, including the home of President and Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant. According to MSN, Galena is also a town that hasn’t changed much over the years, and it seems to be working for it.
With more than 800 properties in its historic district, Galena offers plenty of opportunities for shopping, exploring, and enjoying this Illinois town that frequently shows up on historical travel lists.

A Town That Stays the Same
Galena (which I have never visited) reminds me so much of St. Charles, Missouri. It’s a town that seems to stay the same, and nothing really changes, aside from the businesses that come and go.
The Timeless Charm of Historic Main Streets
The atmosphere, however, always stays the same. With its brick roads, original old buildings along Main Street, and the shops tucked inside those historic structures, it feels like you’ve traveled back in time to the days of Lewis and Clark.
I imagine Galena is the same way. While I can’t speak from personal experience, since I haven’t been there, my family and friends who have visited say they love exploring this town that feels frozen in time.
