Fuel Prices Are on the Rise in Illinois This Holiday Weekend

Starting this weekend, you might she gas prices a little bit higher in the state of Illinois.

The increase is due to the holiday weekend, travelers who are planning to hit the road will see a .07 cent increase this 4th of July weekend. NBC Chicago says that's a 42% increase from last year. The demand for gas has increased as everything has opened and people are traveling more and vacationing, where last year we were all home and hunkered down.

AAA reports that the average gas in Illinois right now is $3.36 for regular and $3.72 for mid-grade gas. So, how do you go on a road trip without breaking the bank? The AAA recommends keeping your car up-to-date on all maintenance and repairs, when buying a new car look for one that has the best fuel economy, make sure your tires have the correct amount of air in them, and (this one is not my favorite) drive the speed limit.

This can save you a little money before you head out of town.
