Former Quincy Gem Immortalized with “Bobblearms” Giveaway
Venditte, a member of the Quincy Gems in 2006, was a 20th round draft pick by the Yankees in 2008 after declining a 45th round invitation the year before. A true “game changer”, MiLB introduced the “Pat Venditte Rule” which disallows a pitcher to switch arms during a single at bat. He made his Major League debut in 2015 with the Oakland Athletics. Not surprisingly, the “switch pitcher” became a beloved internet anomaly (and even taught one headline writer the difference between “ambidextrous” and “amphibious”).
