The best place to float is on the Elk River starting in Noel, Missouri. Wedged in the extreme southwest part of Missouri. Just a few miles from Oklahoma and less than a mile from Arkansas.
Elk River Floats has camping and several cabins too
There are several places to put in the Elk River at Noel, and several campgrounds along the river to base your adventures out of. One of the fun parts of floating on a smaller run area is that if you are a beginner, the river provides many twists and turns that give you opportunities to learn how to maneuver the craft. The Elk River is also primarily shallow enough that unless there were recent rains the current won’t whisk you downstream if you tump over (and if you are a beginner –you will).
Float trips are in the DNA of Missouri residents
The Missouri tradition of float trips is a wonderful thing to experience. Whether it’s the Meramec, Huzzah, Current River, Jack’s Fork or the Elk River by Noel, Mo. Get in. Enjoy the day and make memories.
