Emma’s Birthday Blankets – New London Girl Sets Out to Collect Blankets for the Needy for Second Year

Last year, Emma Jane asked for something a little different for her 9th birthday. Rather than gifts, Emma asked for donations of new, or gently used blankets that she could donate to those in need. Her first campaign for Emma's Birthday Blankets collected 336 blankets, and Emma would like to collect even more in 2014! 

During Emma's initial blanket drive, donations came in from around the United States, and were distributed by a number of local charities. The American Red Cross used some of the blankets for hurricane victims and fire victims. The James E. Cary Cancer Center received blankets for their chemo treatment room, and a church distributed some of the blankets to the homeless in St. Louis

Emma will again be collecting blankets from January 1 - February 13, 2014. Those wishing to donate can drop off blankets at collection sites around the area, including:
