Denim as far as the eye can see.

Every surface that could conceivably be covered by denim is being covered by denim this fall. Not just jeans and jackets. Shirts, hats, vests, purses, dresses, backpacks, skirts, lamp shades (???), there's a world of denim out there. Do you have enough to cover everything?

Denim has always had its place in fashion and in the wider American culture, but it's taken until this fall for all things denim to gather forces and attack en mass.

Your old denim? Yes, shop your own closet first. You probably have denim items in there. Ina season where the more denim the better? Get it out. Your old Calvin Klein jean jacket? Vintage! Wear it. Old jeans you never threw out? Now you know why, put them in the rotation!

If you weren't sold on the denim on denim layers trend, that all ended last week when Taylor Swift wore a denim tank with denim shorts to the Kansas City Chiefs home opener.

So with all the different shades of blue out there, how do you make it your own?

You could lean monochrome. Get several pieces in the same shade and style. That can be bold! Or, you could mix and match all the different textures, tints and tones that denim brings to the table. You could also strategically employ denim pieces into your already established style.

Offset the denim with an animal print. This can be done with a simple tank under a jean jacket. Likewise, patterns can do this job too. Houndstooth works well, or if you have white top with stripes. Just offset the color to the denim. Employ some color to break up the volume of denim, but make sure it is seasonal. Deep red dahlia, a rusty apricot orange, forest green, a rich mustard yellow, a smooth cream or dress it up with a shimmery black for contrast. A light scarf or a twilly will also shine around the denim.

Shoes and purse should compliment each other. Jewelry can tie in with your denim's metal rivets and buttons, whether silver, gold or copper if any. If not any of those colors will pop next to the denim.

You've been waiting for this moment. Embrace it with your denim.
